September Activities

1st October

As you may well know from our previous article this month has been all about celebrating Arts in Care homes. I won’t embellish too much on this one as there is a article on the previous page of the website.. Jeanette and Ann Marie have introduced some fantastic art projects for the residents this month including the latest ‘Pebble Art’.

Claire and Jeanette recently spent Friday afternoon sampling different teas with the residents. Lots of different flavours served in china cups discussing how to make a proper cup of tea. How do you like your tea? With toast or a slice of cake? As Claire says -everything stops for a cup of tea and a chat!

We said goodbye to one of our long-standing Trustee’s, Janet Cummins devoted 9 years to Swarthmore.

We held a Macmillan Coffee morning recently.  We would like to thank Wenzels in Gerrards Cross for donating cakes and pastries. Suzanne one of carer’s baked a wonderful Victoria Sandwich., our Chef for baking too. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthwhile charity.

Some of our residents enjoyed a trip out to a local garden centre this month. A little shopping spree, admiring all the different plants, gifts, and the aquatic centre. It would have been rude not to pop into the café for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Our residents were entertained by our pianist and a harpist this month. A mixture of a dancing afternoon and a relaxation session listening to the therapeutic harp.

The evenings are drawing in and the weather is probably set to change as we welcome Autumn.  Seasons brings change to the garden, we will watch the beautiful colours come in. I hear the squirrels are busy taking the beech nuts from the trees, they keep everyone entertained.
